Club Fairs:
The annual Club Fair will be happening on Friday, October 14. Volunteers will be needed during F block and lunch in the cafeteria to showcase what Student Council is and what we do. Currently, we have:
Devesh
Mahdin

Snowball Dance:
We will need to start planning for the Snowball Dance soon in order for this dance to run efficiently and smoothly. The dance is usually held sometime in the first week of December. This year, we will be holding the dance on either Wednesday, December 7 or Thursday, December 8. There will be meetings outside of Student Council meetings held for members of the dance committee (will be established in the upcoming week). We will also be holding a vote for the theme of the dance. Currently, the themes we have are:

- Dank memes
- Formal
- Multicultural
- Halloween in December
- Pillow Santa
- Spy
- Superhero
- Disney
- Christmas Theme
- Ugly Sweater

Meeting minutes for Thursday, October 13:

Halloween decorations:
We will be decorating the cafeteria and the main entrance on Tuesday (October 18th) after school. If you would like to volunteer please comment on the halloween dec post.

Club Fair:
This year’s club fair went fairly well. We had around 35 new recruits joining Student Council! A big thank you to the volunteers: Riley, Devesh, Umika, Rosemary, Mahdin and Stefan.

Halloween Party:
The date will either be October 27, 28, or 31. We will also need to decide whether if we want it to be at lunch or after school. The idea is to have around 4 activities/minor games in the caf and a haunted house or a haunted hallway. We might start a poll for the date and time.

Snowball Dance:
The dance committee’s first meeting is coming up! If you would like to join please be in Ms Mostert’s room on Tuesday, Oct 18, at lunch. Sign ups will be available during the meeting. If you have any questions regarding the Dance Committee please contact Athens Tan or myself.

Spirit Week:
Will be taking place from Oct 24 to Oct 28. We will pick a 5 letter-word, each letter corresponds with a day of the week. For now we have the word “Scary”(In this case, S is for Monday, C is for Tuesday, A is for Wednesday, and so on). Student council will be changing the decorations according to the letters of the word. For example, we decided that “S” is for Spiders. We will have volunteers putting on the spider-related decorations before the weekend, and taking them off Monday after school to put on the decorations for Tuesday, which is C for ___. And so on. *The theme decorations will be minor. As for the students, they can dress up for anything that starts with the letter of the day and is related to Halloween. We might also hold costume contests. The prizes will also be given according to the letter of the day. E.g. S for Skittles, C for Chocolates.

Public Affairs:
Reopening Public Affairs! This time, instead of being in charge of the Seaquam Social Media, Public Affairs will be taking on the following jobs:

Plan how to advertise events, festivals, and spirit days e.g. what we need, such as posters, hand out flyers, TV slides, Seaquam Events
-Decide on posters, discuss with the artists about the posters
-Decide on how many volunteers are needed
-Decide what goes on to the social media, but needs to have permission from Simran,Tanjit, or me.
-Delve into the unknown aspects of your brains for methods of advertising

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don't hesitate to ask Nick or Sean.

Meeting Minutes for Thursday, October 20:

A lot of you didn't show up to today's meeting. In today's meeting we covered the schedule for next week.

There are several events happening next week:

1. Pumpkin carving contest in the cafeteria on Tuesday at lunch!

-There will be 10 pumpkins, with 2-4 participants working on each pumpkin. We will be providing them with carving tools. They will be given a time limit. Afterwards, we will pick the best looking pumpkin, and the participants for that pumpkin win a prize (most likely some Halloween special chocolate/candies). The participants will all get candies.

-After the event, we will be collecting the pumpkins. The pumpkins will be displayed in our school as part of the Halloween decorations. The participants will put their names on their pumpkins (or attached to them with a slip of paper).

-We need a lot of volunteers for this, as it will be very messy. We need volunteers for next Monday and Tuesday: Monday to help Gurnoor (Alexis Wong) bring in the pumpkins and set up the caf, and Tuesday to come help during and after the event.

-We will be collaborating with Operation Green for this event.

-We will be using the back of the caf for this contest. I will confirm with Ms Mostert about this.

-Volunteers I will make separate posts for you to sign up!

2. Roll a dice Fundraiser!

-We will be doing fundraiser for student council from next Wednesday to Friday at lunch.

-The way it works: each person will pay 1 dollar to roll a dice once, the number he or she gets is how many he or she gets. E.g. The person got 4, he or she will get 4 candies.

-Hansi Ranasinghe is buying the candies for this event. We need volunteers on the three days to carry the poster around the school. The idea is to have a moving fundraiser, so we can reach most part of the school.

3. Find a ping pong ball Challenge!

-The way the game is gonna work: we will have a container, inside the container, we will have something like slime that resembles blood and flesh. We will then sink 4 marble balls, 1 of which is painted a special colour, e.g. black. The player will be given a time limit, and within the time he or she is to dig out as many marble balls as he or she can. If he or she gets the special ball, a special prize will be rewarded.

-For the buckets, Riley Webster will be bringing in some buckets for paint.

-Volunteers will be needed. If u would like to sign up please comment under the volunteer post.

-Any ideas for what kind of things we can use to create the slimy cluster that we will put into the buckets?? They need to be cost efficient!

Meeting Minutes for Thursday, October 27:

-We mainly discussed the events on Monday. Unfortunately, Ms Mostert would like to cancel the Costume Contest. If you volunteered for recruiting people to participate in the contest, please note this change. We will have a photo booth set-up in the cafeteria.

-Pumpkin carving went fairly well on Friday; as well as the Roll or Die fundraiser. We will be continuing the fundraiser on Monday at lunch. Thanks for all of you who helped out during the event!

-For the people who volunteered to decorate the candies, the "ghosts" are looking fabulous. We will be handing those candies out Monday at lunch to anyone who dressed up.

-Lastly, put on your Halloween costumes on Monday!

*No clowns please.

Meeting minutes for Thursday, November 10:

-We determined the winners of the Twin Day Selfie Contest. 1st place, the short clip made by Emily Mitton and Jaydyn Baillie. 2nd place, we have the Justin Trudeau triplets, Luci Kask, Lauren Zayonc, and Steph Needham. And, last but not least, for the 3rd place, we have Elijah St Germain and Paul Kee. Winners will receive their prizes next week.

-Snowball dance progress report: Dance date is Dec 7th. The theme for decoration is Winter Wonderland. The dress code will be semi formal. DJ has been contacted (Galactic entertainment). Ticket template will be emailed to Ms Mostert shortly. As soon as we get the ticket template, we can start selling tickets. The ticket prices are $10 for the first week, $12 for the second and third weeks.

-We will be helping with "Movember". We will advertise Movember on our social media, meanwhile updating the teachers' mustaches' growth weekly(also on social media).

-We have made a student council website. Thanks to all the website coordinators. They've devoted a lot of their own time into this endeavor. Nick is still finishing up some minor details of the website, we will be posting the website link later this weekend.

Bon week-end!

Meeting Minutes for Thursday, November 17:
1. Snowball tickets will be available starting next week. The prices for the tickets are $10 from Nov. 21-25, and $12 for the weeks after. We will update a date for the deadline for purchasing the tickets next week.

2. Storage room clean up will happen Monday after school. That is Nov. 21. We will make a list of all the supplies in our three storage rooms. This way, we will have an understanding of what we have and what we need to buy (for events). Volunteers please remember to show up. We will meet in Ms Mostert's room Monday after school.

3. Student council potluck is coming up! The potluck will be on Friday, Dec. 2 after school in the library. This is a great opportunity to get to know all the members in the student council. All members of the student council are encouraged to come! Don't forget to bring snacks for everybody to share. We will plan the potluck in detail during our next meeting.

4. Christmas decorations: we will be putting up Christmas decorations on Friday Dec. 2 right after the potluck. We will decide on what to buy and assign volunteers to get the supplies in next meeting.

That's all from the last meeting, enjoy your weekend everyone.Ten un buen fin de semana!

Meeting minutes for Thursday, November 23:

1. Snowball:

- Snowball tickets sale was great this week. We sold over 160 tickets. We still need volunteers to sell tickets on 6th (a few more volunteers to help Karishma). If you are interested please either comment below Tanjit's previous post(s), or dm Tanjit and myself.

- Snowball volunteers will be able to sign-up over the weekend. We will put on a google spreadsheet in this group. However, you will not be able to make changes in the doc; you need to either comment below or dm me, for we don't want people screwing around with the spreadsheet.

- Volunteering for Snowball means you will be helping out on the day of Snowball from 3:30 pm - 9:30 pm (approx, 10:00pm the latest). Note that you won't have time to leave school in the hours mentioned above. So use the 30 min wisely ;) You will be helping out with setting-up, extra decor if needed, putting up window covers, clean-up, etc. A more comprehensive job list will be posted after next Tuesday's dance committee meeting. You do not have to pay for the ticket; however, there are conditions. *Please check the post I made about this.

- Aside from the sign-up sheet online, there will be sign-up sheets in Ms Mostert's room next week for you to sign-up physically. We will most likely give you time to sign-up during our next student council meeting as well.

2. Potluck:

-The student council potluck will be hosted on next Friday, Dec 2. Again, I strongly encourage you all to show up. Remember to bring snacks with you. We will be playing the traditional game "Bang". It's a lit game that will help you learn each others' names. The event is estimated to end before 4:00 pm.

3. Christmas Decorations:

- After the potluck^^, we will all head down to put up Christmas decorations. Aye another volunteer opportunities! After cleaning the storage room, we found out that we have a lot of really awesome decorations for Christmas. On Friday, we will get all those boxes of decorations out and put them up around the school. This will be similar to the Halloween decoration session that we did. But it will be tons of fun. You will find unexpected things in these boxes of decorations!

4. Spirit Day next Wednesday:

- It is almost time for another spirit day! I'm thinking about the Seaquam Day, where students put on their Seaquam theme clothes and/or colour. Plz comment below if you have a cooler name for it.

As we move in closer to Snowball, our meetings will be revolving around the dance.

If you have any questions AT ALL please comment or dm me. That is all people! Have a chill weekend!
